We would like to welcome you to the “Soul of Adoption.”
This site is currently under development, so please bear with us and excuse our dust.

Soul of Adoption exists for the purpose of education, reformation, and cross-triad communication. To this end, we provide information about all facets of adoption. For some, adoption is an experience of joyous celebration. For others, adoption is rife with grief and pain. Most who are touched by adoption fall somewhere in the middle.

Soul of Adoption does not represent either a pro or an anti adoption stance. Our intention instead is to offer a glimpse into the stories and personal truths of those touched by adoption, whatever they may be.

The articles, posts and forum discussions you will find through this site represent the opinions of the individual authors. We are each responsible for our own statements - no one person represents the totality of the Soul of Adoption position regarding adoption. We provide links to other sites for the purpose of educational resources only. Inclusion or exclusion of a link to any website does not constitute an endorsement or condemnation of that site or that site’s position on adoption. We include links to sites whose positions on adoption topics directly conflict with our stated mission for the purpose of providing insight into the varied and contrasting opinions held about adoption.

Soul of Adoption holds the following beliefs about adoption - opinions and beliefs not specifically outlined below reflect the opinions and beliefs of the individual authors only. This list represents the spirit and mission behind the site as a whole and does not necessarily reflect the personal beliefs of every user of the site.

• We believe that the estimated $3+ billion dollar a year adoption industry in the United States is in desperate need of reform.

• We believe that profit should be completely eliminated from adoption.

• We believe that serious and major reform is necessary on a federal level governing all adoption practices including accredidation of agencies, adoption facilitators, public and private foster care agencies, adoption attorneys and all public and private “crisis pregnancy counseling” centers.

• We believe that all legislation and regulation of adoption and adoption practices should be handled by the federal government, not by the individual states. It is our contention that state level regulation allows far too many loopholes which are often exploited by those who seek to profit from the current archaic and often jumbled and conflicting adoption laws.

• We believe that the adoption industry as a whole fails the parents and children who are touched by adoption through limited education, counseling, preparation and follow-up resources.

• We believe adoptees are entitled to know their full identity upon reaching adulthood.

• We believe that no government, no agency and no individual has the right to deny an adoptee information about their identity at birth.

• We believe in full disclosure whenever possible to adoptive parents of the identity of the child’s bio parents as part of the adoption process and paperwork. They should already have that information on hand to turn over to the child on or by the child’s 18th birthday.

• We believe adoption should always be about finding families for children “in need,” and never about finding children for families “in need.”

• We believe open adoption agreements should be legally binding and legally enforceable.

• We believe equality is owed to bio fathers wishing to exercise their parental rights.

• We believe it is unethical and immoral for any person or entity to engage in practices deliberately designed to deprive fathers or mothers of their natural rights to their children.

• We believe in the total abolishment of privately owned non and for-profit ‘maternity homes’ in which young women are housed for the sole or primary purpose of bearing babies they will relinquish.
